Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) are tree nuts which are native to Central America, the Caribbean and Northern South America.
Although native to these areas, the main industrial exporting origins of kernels around the world today are, Vietnam, India, Brazil & Africa.
Fun Fact?
The Cashew does not grow on the inside of the fruit like most nuts do but actually on the outside. The Fruit is called a Cashew apple and the nut can be found at the bottom.

Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) are actually Legumes and not nuts at all. They are part of the bean family and grow underground unlike nuts that grow on trees.
Peanuts are thought to be native to South America and were moved around the globe by Spanish Explorers. Main industrial growing regions for peanuts today are, China, India, USA, Argentina, Nicaragua & Brazil.

Pistachios
Pistachios (Pistacia vera) are native to Western and Central Asia Primarily Syria, Iran & Afghanistan.
It is thought that Pistachios were introduced to Italy around 2000 years ago from Syria, it wasn’t however until 1854 that the first experimental Pistachio tree was planted in California USA. Main industrial growing regions today for Pistachio are, USA, Iran, Turkey, Syria & Afghanistan.

Pistachios are a good source of Antioxidants; they contain more than most other nuts and seeds. In actual fact only Pecans & Walnuts contain more.

Hazelnuts (Corylus avellana) are Tree Nuts that are native to predominately Turkey. Hazelnuts also grow here in England and are called Cobnuts.
Cobnuts are a cultivated variety of Hazelnut and were introduced into the English county of Kent in the 19th Century. Main industrial growing regions around the world today for Hazelnuts are, Turkey, Italy, Azerbaijan, USA, Chile & Georgia.

Hazelnuts are a rich source of mono-unsaturated fatty acids (heart-friendly fatty acids), dietary fibres, vitamins A, E and folic acid (B9) and minerals such as manganese, magnesium, phosphorus and iron.

Pecans
Pecans (Carya illinoinensis) are tree nuts that are native to Mexico and the Southern States of the USA.
