Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) are tree nuts which are native to Central America, the Caribbean and Northern South America.
Although native to these areas, the main industrial exporting origins of kernels around the world today are, Vietnam, India, Brazil & Africa.
The Cashew does not grow on the inside of the fruit like most nuts do but actually on the outside. The Fruit is called a Cashew apple and the nut can be found at the bottom.
